First, a big THANK YOU to John Clement for being my guest this week. He graciously has agreed to give away two copies of the next Dixie Hemingway mystery! And the winners are …
KIRSTEN ROY and WENDY R!!!
Congratulations! Please email me allison (at) allisonbrennan (dot) com with your mailing address and I’ll forward the information to John.
I’d planned on writing a big wrap-up blog about the RT Book Reviews conference, but so many other authors have posted pictures and stories. So here’s my observations:
1) I love meeting my readers. Readers are also very talented. SIX readers came up to me with scrapbooks to sign similar to this one below:
2) Seeing friends is the BEST thing about any writers conference.
3) I’ve accepted that I’ve become more introverted as I’ve grown older. While I’ll never be a true introvert, I, too, can be overwhelmed. Two hours a day at the conference hotel was more than enough.
4) I love sitting on panels with fun people.
5) New Orleans is a fascinating city and I can’t wait to go back!
While I love writers and readers conferences, it’s always good to get home. While I was gone, I spent a day working on revisions for HIT AND RUN, the next Moreno & Hart Mystery coming out from Laura and me … it’s done! I also worked on the revisions for COMPULSION, the next Max Revere book coming in Spring of 2015. I’ve been focused on them all week and am 2/3rd done … AND the next Lucy Kincaid thriller will be out in less than two weeks. DEAD HEAT is on sale June 3! I’m very, very excited about this book. I know I’m not supposed to pick favorites … but I think this is my favorite Lucy book yet. It’s also a good place to start if you haven’t read them because I’ve sort of rebooted the series by moving Lucy and Sean to San Antonio.
Then after I finish the revisions to COMPULSION, I’m taking a day or two off … because Kelly, my #2 daughter, will be graduating from high school on June 5! A big day for her (and me!)
Then, I’ll start writing the next Lucy book. Though I gave my editor one idea, another idea struck me yesterday … so I’m going to look at both of them and see which one draws me (read: Lucy) in more.
